One reason to address the 'is there any point' position with sales and marketing alignment came to light from a Marketing Prof's study from a few years back . Aligned companies on the whole a growing faster and make more money than their non-aligned peers. I'd could quote figures but the point remains the same. In my experience getting aligned is really a strategic issue (i.e. the board supports it) and a route to higher profits/revenue. T

Hi Charlotte,

This is a subject close to my heart. As a Marketing Lecturer (CIM and Strategic Marketing) I know exactly what you mean. Can I suggest you take a look at a book called 'The Leaky Funnel' by Hugh MacFarlane for some inspiration.
I've also engaged with CIM around improving their B2B Marketing training offering last year - happy to share the details of that dialogue.
I recently ran a short course specifically designed for B2B Marketers - here is a sample
http://bit.ly/aHtI9v
"How to Set Strategy for Business Markets". There are other modules available and thousands of marketers have already road-tested the content. Happy to share some content if it suits.

Hi Charlotte

I've been watching the discussion on LinkedIn and now found your blog. You seem to like a challenge!

Our business is very much involved in B2B marketing and we struggle like you to get good case studies. This is especially frustrating as many purchaser's decisions are finally made when a positive ROI can be shown.

If we discover the magic bullet I'll let you know :-)
